Description
This building is a villa located at 36 Findhorn Place in Edinburgh, dating from around 1860. It is a two-storey, three-bay structure with a symmetrical rectangular plan.
The exterior features squared and snecked rubble, with droved and coursed ashlar on the west elevation, which includes lightly suggested dressings. There are base, cill, and blocking courses, as well as an eaves cornice.
On the west (entrance) elevation, there is a central pilastered doorway with carved consoles supporting the cornice, a panelled door, and a plate glass fanlight. Above the doorway, there is a single window, with additional windows in the flanking bays. To the outer right, there is a later single-storey garage.
The south elevation is blank. The villa has four-pane sash and case windows, with internal secondary glazing at the ground floor. The roof is covered in grey slate with a piended design, featuring lead flashing and truncated shouldered stacks.
The interior was not seen in 1990. The property is enclosed by high coped mutual and boundary walls, with a central pedestrian gateway that has a continuous stone overthrow leading to Findhorn Place.
