Description
38 Findhorn Place is a villa built around 1860, featuring two stories and a symmetrical three-bay rectangular plan, with a single-storey service wing at the rear. The exterior is constructed from squared and snecked rubble, with droved and coursed ashlar on the west elevation, accented by lightly stugged dressings. It has a base, cill, and blocking courses, along with an eaves cornice.
On the west entrance elevation, there is a central pilastered doorway adorned with carved consoles supporting the cornice. The doorway contains a panelled door and a plate glass fanlight, with a single window above and in the remaining bays. To the outer left, there is a later addition of a single-storey garage.
The north elevation is blank, while the east rear elevation features a piend-roofed service wing to the left of centre and a central stair window with margin panes on the first floor.
The villa has four-pane sash and case windows, a grey slate piended roof with lead flashing, and two shouldered and corniced wallhead stacks with tall moulded and tapering cans.
The interior was not seen in 1990. The property is enclosed by high coped mutual and boundary walls, which include two square-section gatepiers with chamfered angles and corniced coping at the carriage entrance to the left. There is also a central pedestrian gateway with a continuous stone overthrow leading to Findhorn Place.
