Description

127 Grange Loan is a villa built around 1868, featuring two stories and three bays, with a lower service wing attached to the west. The exterior is made of squared and snecked sandstone rubble, with stugged ashlar and polished dressings on the north side. It includes a base course, dividing band course, and a cill course at the first floor. The building has a bracketted cornice, keystoned round-arched windows on the ground floor, and segmental-arched windows on the first floor, all framed by pilastered window surrounds and detailed ashlar canopies.

On the north entrance elevation, there is a central doorway with pilasters and a keystone arch, featuring carved consoles, a cornice, and a canopy. The door is panelled, and there is a plate glass fanlight above it. A single window is located above the entrance. To the outer right, there is an advanced tripartite window with a cornice and a swept canopy at ground level, with a corresponding tripartite window above on the first floor. The outer left bay contains bipartite windows. The service wing, which is recessed and attached to the west, has a single window on the ground floor that matches the style of the main house, and a window that breaks the eaves on the first floor.

The east elevation is largely blank, while the west elevation features an advanced service wing with single windows in two bays at the center, with the first-floor windows breaking the eaves. The windows are plate glass sash and case, with a replacement window on the first floor of the service wing. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a piended design, with shouldered and cornice wallhead stacks, moulded octagonal chimney cans, and moulded eaves guttering.

The interior was not seen in 1991. The property is enclosed by low saddleback coped walls along the street and high coped rubble boundary walls.
