Description

Robert Burn, designed 1800, with 20th century alterations. 9-bay, 3-storey and basement, palace-fronted classical tenement. Sandstone ashlar, rustication at ground floor. Outer 2 bays advanced. Band course above ground and between 1st and 2nd floors, cill band at 1st floor, eaves cornice, rosetted capitals to panelled giant pilasters of centre bays, entrance platts oversailing basement.

N (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: bays grouped 2-1-3-1-2. Round-arched entrance to centre with tripartite doorpiece fanlight and sidelights, windows in round-arched recesses to flanking centre bays. Regular fenestration to bays remaining and above with smaller windows to 2nd floor.

Timber sash and case windows with 12-pane glazing, 6-pane at 2nd floor, grey slates to redesigned roof, rooflights, decorative cast-iron railings.

INTERIOR: not seen 1998. Alterations to house radio station.
