19 Forth Street, Edinburgh

19 Forth Street in Edinburgh is a building designed by Robert Burn in 1800. It features 15 bays arranged in a pattern of 6-3-3-3, and is two stories tall with a basement and attic. The mansard roof is present on Nos 21 and 23. The exterior is constructed of sandstone ashlar, with a cill band at the ground level, a band course between the ground and first floors, projecting cills at the first floor, an eaves cornice, and a blocking course. The doorways are pilastered and corniced, and the entrance platts extend over the basement.

On the principal north elevation, there are paired entrances at No 25, with the left doorway blocked and converted into a window. The timber panelled doors feature segmental fanlights. The fenestration is regular, with bays 7, 10, and 13 maintaining this pattern. Above, the windows continue the regular layout, with two tripartite canted dormers on Nos 25 and 27, three wall-head dormers on No 23, a full-width box dormer on No 21, and a bipartite canted dormer on No 19.

The windows are timber sash and case, predominantly with 12-pane glazing, while the attic features plate glass. The outer bays on the left at ground level have 18-pane windows. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are ridge stacks and decorative cast-iron railings. The interior was not seen in 1998.
