Description

Robert Burn, designed 1800. 15-bay (grouped 6-3-3-3), 2-storey with basement and attic, mansard roof to Nos 21 and 23, terraced classical houses now flatted. Sandstone ashlar. Cill band at ground, band course between ground and 1st floors, projecting cills at 1st floor, eaves cornice and blocking course, pilastered and corniced doorpieces, entrance platts oversailing basement.

N (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: paired entrances at No 25, left doorway blocked as window; timber panelled doors with segmental fanlights. Bays 7, 10 and 13 with regular fenestration to bays remaining. Regular fenestration above with 2 tripartite canted dormers to Nos 25 and 27, 3 wall-head dormers to No 23, full width box dormer to No 21, bipartite canted dormer to No 19.

Timber sash and case windows with predominantly 12-pane glazing, plate glass to attic, 18-pane in outer bays to left at ground, grey slates, ridge stacks, decorative cast-iron railings.

INTERIOR: not seen 1998.
