Description
18 Forth Street is a classical terraced house in Edinburgh, designed by Robert Burn in 1800. It is two stories high with a mansard attic and a basement, featuring three bays and constructed from droved sandstone ashlar. The house has projecting cills, an eaves cornice, and a blocking course. The entrance is marked by a columned and corniced doorpiece, with entrance platts that overhang the basement.
On the principal elevation, there is a timber panelled door with a fanlight to the left, and windows in the remaining bays. The upper section has regular fenestration, including mansard dormer windows in the roof. The windows are timber sash and case with plate glass glazing, and the roof is covered with grey slates. Decorative cast-iron railings add to the exterior features.
The interior was not seen in 1998.
