Description

Earlier to mid 19th century. 2-storey, 3-bay symmetrical block; stugged squared and snecked sandstone with ashlar margins and dressings; base course; eaves moulding; quoins; raised cills.

NE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: 3 bays symmetrially disposed; centre bay slightly recessed; moulded surround with ashlar lintel; broad panelled and glazed door, rectangular, 3-pane bordered fanlight; window above. Flanking bays, canted sandstone window at ground, chamfered reveals, lead roof; window above.

SE ELEVATION: 2-bay outer right block, windows symmetrically disposed; entrance bay recessed at centre, single storey piend roofed block at centre ground, now with modern rubble extension, door to right; 2-storey block to outer left, lean-to storage at ground, window at 1st floor.

2-pane sash and case windows in canted bays; 4-pane sash and case for remainder of house, 12-pane sash and case to outer left block on SE elevation. Grey slate piended roof with lead flashings; tall, corniced, square, grouped ridge stacks.

INTERIOR: not seen 1994

WALLED GARDEN: rectangular-plan walled garden to SW of house; high rubble wall with harl pointing, slab coping (heavy ivy cover on E wall); round-arched opening, modern wrought-iron gate.

BOUNDARY WALL AND GATEPIERS: rubble quadrant walls with slab coping, ashlar gatepiers with cornice, pyramidal caps. outer piers similar; wrought iron gates. Boundary wall running along Johnsburn Road, rubble with harl-pointing, semicircular coping.
