Description
14 and 15 Earlston Place is a three-storey and attic tenement building designed by Peter L Henderson around 1882. It features seven bays and has a shop with pilasters on the ground floor, along with a circular corner turret that is corbelled out to the right. The building is constructed of snecked sandstone with ashlar dressings.
The ground floor has a continuous fascia and cornice, and there is a cill course at the third floor. To the left of the center, there is a timber panelled door, and to the right of the center, a two-leaf timber panelled door, both with plate glass fanlights above. The windows are bipartite, and there is a gablet-headed dormer on the outer left. The center features paired windows in a decorative segmentally pedimented dormer, which has an apex stack that breaks the eaves and is flanked by ball finials, with scrolled relief between the windows.
The circular corner turret on the outer right is corbelled out from the first floor and has windows at the second and third floors, topped with a cornice and a finialled leaded dome. There is also a pediment-headed dormer breaking the eaves to the left. The building predominantly has non-traditional glazing, with some plate glass in timber sash and case windows, and is covered with grey slates. It features a corniced stack with circular cans.
