13 Earlston Place, London Road, Edinburgh

12 Earlston Place is a three-storey and attic tenement block built in 1882 by Peter L Henderson. The building features six bays and an ogee-roofed octagonal corner turret, with a shop on the ground floor that was formerly a bank. It is constructed of snecked sandstone with ashlar dressings, and the shop has polished grey and black granite facing.

The ground floor has a continuous cornice and fascia, with a cill course at the third floor and an eaves cornice. The shop has round-arched openings, and there is a two-leaf timber panelled door with a plate glass fanlight and brass handles at the center. To the right of the shop entrance is another timber panelled door with a plate glass fanlight set in a moulded, pilastered surround. The outer right bay features bipartite windows and a piend-roofed dormer.

The building has a curvilinear gable flanking a wallhead stack over two central bays, with windows flanked by pilasters that are corbelled out at the first and second floors. The second floor has a canted corner with a window flanked by colonettes, and the dormer flanking the corner turret has a finialled pedimented gable.

The windows are predominantly plate glass in timber sash and case style. The roof is gabled and covered with grey slate, featuring corniced stacks with cylindrical cans. Additionally, the west gable extends down to form a retaining wall in the adjacent railway cutting.
