Description
This Gothic Cottage, built around 1825, is a single-storey structure with a piend roof and three bays. The front is finished in polished ashlar, while the sides and rear are made of coursed rubble. It features a base course and overhanging eaves, with chamfered surrounds around the windows and door.
On the principal elevation, there is an advanced bay with a piend roof. The doorway is flanked by two windows set back in a veranda, which is formed by stone piers with arch-headed recessed panels. These are linked by a delicate cast iron grille with two arches. The eaves display cast-iron tracery. The timber panelled door has a decorative fanlight above, all within a chamfered surround, and is flanked by two bipartite gothic windows. The mirrored bays on the left and right have stone piers with arch-headed recessed panels on the outer sides and hoodmoulded bipartite gothic windows.
The windows are timber sash and case with a lying-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are diagonally set decorative square-section corniced stacks on the ridges, topped with octagonal cans.
