Description
The Police Call Box on Murrayfield Avenue in Edinburgh was designed by the City Architects Department under E J MacRae in the late 1930s. It is a standard Edinburgh police box, featuring two single-bay rectangular plans measuring 6 feet by 4 feet, located at the southeast end of Murrayfield Avenue. The long elevations are pilastered, with the entrance elevation facing west on the left-hand side of the street. To the right of the entrance, there is a corniced door bearing the city arms, while to the left are two small corniced doors. The short elevations are topped with open pediments that display ribboned wreath decorations. All elevations are fitted with Saltaire patterned glazing, and the box has a felt-covered roof equipped with a UKWMO siren.
