Public House And Tenement, 11-13 Cockburn Street, Edinburgh

This building is a public house and tenement located at 11-13 Cockburn Street in Edinburgh, designed by architects Peddie and Kinnear between 1859 and 1861. It is a three-storey and attic structure featuring three bays and three finial-topped slate-hung timber dormers in the attic. The exterior is constructed from squared and snecked lightly stugged sandstone with polished dressings, which are painted at the ground level.

The building has moulded string courses at the ground floor and above the second-floor windows, where the carved initials [PK] can be found to the left. There is an eaves course, and the ground floor features stop-chamfered roll-moulded openings. The façade is regularly fenestrated, with stop-chamfered surrounds to the windows on the upper floors. The windows are timber sash and case with four-pane glazing, and the roof is covered with grey slates.
