Old Ship Inn, 7, 8 Fishmarket Square, Newhaven, Edinburgh

The Old Ship Inn, located at 7 and 8 Fishmarket Square in Newhaven, Edinburgh, is a three-storey, three-bay rectangular-plan tenement built around 1970 by Ian Lindsay & Partners. It forms the end of a terrace and features a harled and limewashed exterior, with raised and painted concrete surrounds around the openings. There are exterior stairs with timber railings leading to the first floor.

On the west elevation facing Fishmarket Square, there is a timber door in the central bay at ground level beneath the stairs (No 8), along with a timber door to a storage area on the right. A single window is located in the outer left bay at ground level. The stairs lead to the first-floor entrance in the central bay (No 7), with a single window aligned above it. The outer left bay has single windows on both the first and second floors, while the outer right bay is blank.

The south elevation facing Main Street features a single window in the outer left bay, with the remaining wall being blank. All openings are fitted with two-pane metal sash and case windows. The roof is covered with machine-made red pantiles and has precast concrete skews. The harled and limewashed apex stacks on the north and south sides are topped with precast concrete copes and circular cans.
