30 Main Street, 28, Newhaven, Edinburgh

32 and 34 Main Street is a three-storey, twelve-bay rectangular-plan tenement block designed by Ian Lindsay & Partners around 1970. It is part of a terrace arranged in groups of three. The ground floor features single-storey flats, while the first and second floors contain double-height flats. The exterior is harled and limewashed, with raised and painted concrete surrounds around the openings. There are exterior stairs with timber railings leading to the first-floor flats.

On the south elevation facing Main Street, there are single timber boarded doors at the ground level set in a stair recess in the outer left bays (Nos 24, 28, 32, and 36). Boarded timber doors are also located beneath the stairs facing west. There are single windows at ground level in the left and right bays. The central bay provides access to the first-floor entries (Nos 26, 30, 34, and 38), featuring replacement timber panelled doors for Nos 26, 30, and 38, while the remaining doors are original timber slatted. The first and second floors have single windows in the outer right bays, with additional single windows in the centre bays on the second floor.

The north elevation facing Pier Place displays a variety of single and bipartite windows at the rear, symmetrically arranged. No 30 has replacement uPVC windows, while No 38 has replacement timber windows; the other properties retain their original metal sash and case windows. The roof is machine-made red pantiled, with precast concrete skews. Harled gablehead stacks are present on the east and west sides, with ridge stacks evenly spaced between the properties, topped with precast concrete copes and circular cans.
