Description
The Garden Gateway at Moray House, located at 172 Canongate in Edinburgh, dates from around 1625 and is designed in the Renaissance style. This pedestrian gateway features an elaborate strapwork pediment and is situated in the former garden grounds of Moray House. It is constructed of polished ashlar and includes pilastered columns that support a lintel adorned with a swagged frieze and cornice. The gateway is topped with a decorative, scrolled and swagged silhouette strapwork pediment. Additionally, there is a later cast-iron gate with scrolled decoration.
