Description
The Newbridge Inn, located on Bridge Street in Newbridge, dates back to 1895, although it was originally founded in 1683. This two-storey, gabled inn features a lower two-storey service block at an oblique angle at the rear along Old Liston Road. The building is rendered with painted ashlar margins around the windows and has a base course.
On the south elevation, there is a three-bay range with an advanced gabled bay to the left. The central door has a lugged architrave, with "1683" carved and painted above the lintel. The advancing bay has bipartite windows on both the ground and first floors, and a datestone from 1895 is located in the gablehead.
The west elevation is also gabled, featuring windows on the ground floor to the right and on the first floor to the left, with a neighbouring single-storey cottage abutting to the left.
The east elevation is gabled as well, with a barred window on the ground floor to the right. There is a lower two-storey addition with a concrete pantiled roof that extends north down Old Liston Road at an angle, featuring irregular openings at the ground level.
The inn has plate glass windows, which are barred on the ground floor, and a grey slate roof with crowstepped gables and a corniced end stack.
