Dovecot, 2 Dovecot Road, Corstorphine, Edinburgh

The Dovecot located at 2 Dovecot Road in Corstorphine, Edinburgh, dates back to the late 16th century. It features a three-stage, circular plan, beehive design constructed from sandstone rubble with coarse sandstone dressings. The exterior includes dividing band courses and projecting stone eaves. On the southeast elevation, there are three-tier flight holes set in an arch above the second stage dividing band course. The northwest elevation has a low entrance doorway with an iron grille door, a stone lintel, and long and short surrounds. The roof is a shallow conical shape, covered with stone slabs.

Inside, the dovecot contains stone nesting boxes and a potence stone, which has a socket for a pole at the center of the stone slabbed floor. Surrounding the dovecot are boundary walls made of coped, coursed rubble, along with circular plan coped dome gatepiers to the left. The site features iron gates, with a pedestrian entrance to the right and a single iron gate.
