Description

Balleny Bridge, built in the late 18th century, is a single span bridge with a semicircular arch that carries the road to Balleny Farm and mill over the Water of Leith. The bridge is constructed of squared and snecked sandstone, featuring stugged ashlar margins and dressings. It has an ashlar, rusticated arch ring and low rubble parapet walls that are harl-pointed, with semicircular coping that curves outwards at both the entrance and exit of the bridge.
