Description

A single-storey, 4-bay, rectangular-plan former school building designed by Harry B Measures and built between 1909 and 1915 as a school for Redford barracks. The building has gables at its end bays and there are dormer windows which break through the eaves at the centres of the northeast and southwest elevations. The building has dark, coursed rock-faced rubble as a base course with concrete render above and there are pale ashlar dressings. There is a band course and the windows have projecting cills. Each gabled bay has tall, transomed bipartite windows to its centre with flanking single windows.

In accordance with Section 1 (4A) of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) (Scotland) Act 1997 the following are excluded from the listing: the flat-roofed and brick sections to the southwest.

Steps lead to a part-glazed entrance door on an outshoot to the southwest elevation.

The windows are predominantly timber sash and case windows with 6- pane glazing pattern to both upper and lower sashes. There are grey graded slates and raised skews to the roof.

The interior was seen in 2016. There is a long, painted brick corridor with the majority of rooms lying off to the northeast.
