39 Gillespie Road, Edinburgh

39 Gillespie Road is a 2-storey villa built in 1905, likely by the architects Barbour, James and Bowie from Dumfries. The exterior is harled, featuring stone sills and a door architrave. The south elevation includes two single-storey rectangular bays connected by a continuous roof, with a central recessed area. Above these bays, there are two first-floor bipartite windows; the left one has a dormer head, while the right is set in a barge-boarded gable with a scalloped-tile tympanum. The east side has an asymmetrical jerkin head gable, and there is a curved porch in the re-entrant angle topped with a tall candle-snuffer roof that sweeps back into the main roof. A single-storey piended outshot projects from the northeast corner. The windows are small-paned, with the upper parts only at the bays. The roof is made of Cotswold stone and features bracketed eaves, along with harled chimney stacks.
