Description
Preston Street Primary School, located on Dalkeith Road in Edinburgh, was designed by Robert Wilson, with contributions from J A Carfrae, and built between 1896 and 1897. The school features a symmetrical three-storey structure with gabled ends and two stepped dormer heads. A central decorative wood and copper roof ventilator adds to its charm. The building is constructed of red sandstone with white dressings and has a slated roof. Notably, there is a sculptured roundel on the east gable, reflecting its Scandinavian-Jacobean inspiration.
