1 East Newington Place, Edinburgh

3 East Newington Place in Edinburgh is a group of three classical houses built around 1835. These two-storey, three-bay houses form an incomplete terrace, with No 1 set slightly forward. The houses are constructed of cream sandstone ashlar, featuring rustication at the ground floor on the main elevation, while the sides and rear are made of rubble. Architectural details include a base course, a dividing band course, a cornice, and a blocking course that is raised at the centre above No 1. The first-floor windows have panelled aprons.

On the south entrance elevation, each house has a doorway located to the outer left, with panelled doors. Nos 2 and 3 feature plate glass fanlights, while No 1 has a small-paned, geometric fanlight. Above the doorways, there are single windows, and all remaining bays also contain single windows.

The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case types. The houses have coped mutual and wallhead stacks with moulded cans.

The interiors were not seen in 1995. The property is bordered by a low, coped boundary wall along the street, which has mostly replacement railings, although some original sections remain between the houses.
