Flora Stevenson Primary School, Comely Bank, Edinburgh

Flora Stevenson Primary School, located in Comely Bank, Edinburgh, was designed by Robert Wilson (J A Carfrae) and built between 1899 and 1900 in the Renaissance style. The building is three stories tall and features a dormer head. Its symmetrical front has a six-window center, with oval and pedimented windows alternating on the top floor. A Doric cupola crowns the structure, and there are twin gable projections with three windows each, showcasing Ionic pilaster angles on the ground and first floors, while Venetian windows are present on the second floor. The outer sections of the building include bay windows and hooded doorpieces, adorned with sculptures of a male figure on the east side and a female figure on the west side. The construction is made of snecked rubble with ashlar dressings, and the roof is slated.
