Description
55 Easdale Island is a mid-19th century single-storey and attic house with a rectangular plan and gabled roof. It is constructed from harled whinstone and slate rubble. The house features gabled dormer windows that break the eaves at the attic level.
On the southeast (principal) elevation, there is a slightly asymmetrical advanced gabled porch located to the right of centre, which has a boarded timber door. To the left of the porch, there is a small window, and a window is also present on the left return. The outer right bay contains a large window, while the centre and left bays have three different sized windows. The large stone gabled dormers on the first floor are regularly fenestrated.
The northwest (rear) elevation shows irregular fenestration at ground level. The northeast (side) elevation features a window on the outer left and a bow-fronted, flat-roofed outbuilding that abuts the centre. The southwest (side) elevation has a harled gable end.
The windows are plate glass fixed timber frame. The roof is covered with grey slates, complemented by lead flashing and coped gable stacks. The interior was not seen in 2001. The boundary wall consists of slate slab coursers.
