Description
43 Easdale Island is a mid-19th century terrace of three single-storey, three-bay cottages with a rectangular plan. The cottages are constructed from harled whinstone and slate rubble, featuring coped gable stacks, grey slates, and lead flashing. The rear elevations are obscured as the terrace is cut into an earth bank.
No. 41 has a northeast (principal) elevation that includes a lean-to extension made of stone, which is out of character and spans the elevation. It features a large modern design. The southeast (side) elevation has a window to the left, a gabled addition in the center and right, and a window on the left return. Most windows are plate glass, except for the large double-glazed windows in the lean-to. The southeast gable has a skew, and the slates on the southeast addition have been replaced. The interior was not seen in 2001.
No. 42 has a slightly recessed northeast (principal) elevation with a boarded timber door in the center, a relatively large 12-pane window to the left, and a small 4-pane window to the right. It features timber sash and case windows, replacement slates, and a small rooflight at the front. The interior was not seen in 2001.
No. 43 has a northeast (principal) elevation with regular fenestration and a boarded timber door in the center. The northwest (side) elevation has a harled gable end and a ruinous cottage wall adjoining to the outer left. It features small 4-pane timber sash and case windows. The interior was not seen in 2001.
