Description
Cursnoch is a post-1865, two-storey, six-bay L-plan stable and service block located on Shanton Road in Cove. The building is constructed of whinstone with sandstone margins and dressings, featuring raised cills.
On the southeast elevation, there is a solid door with pilasters and a pediment in the penultimate bay to the left, alongside a two-leaf boarded door. To the right, there are four windows arranged symmetrically, two of which have been altered from stable doorways, and a slightly smaller window to the left. The first floor also has windows arranged symmetrically, alternating between small narrow windows and gabled dormer heads. To the outer left, there is a coped, flat-roofed coach block with broad boarded doors on both the left and right sides, and a window in the center, topped with ball finials at the corners.
The west elevation features a flat-roofed block to the right, with a narrow window to the outer left and circular vent holes below the coping. There is a lean-to greenhouse at ground level and a gabled block to the outer left, which has a modern picture window in the gable.
The windows throughout include 8-pane timber sash and case windows, with narrow windows having a configuration of two panes over four panes. The roof is covered with grey slate and includes lead flashings, corniced and coped sandstone ridge stacks, and circular cans.
The interior was not seen in 1993. Surrounding the property is a whinstone boundary wall with semicircular coping that runs along Shanton Road, and there is a granite setted forecourt.
