Description

Early 19th century. 3-storey, 3-bay near-symmetrical tenement of rectangular plan with rectangular stair tower projecting to rear. Roughcast random rubble walls (lime harl surviving at NW elevation) with polished ashlar dressings. Base course and eaves cornice with concealed gutter. Raised margins at openings, projecting cills at windows.

SW (KIRK STREET) ELEVATION: regular fenestration to upper floors. Paired entrance doors to left of left bay, single entrance door between centre and right bays. Ground floor windows slightly off-set to bays above.

NE (REAR) ELEVATION: rectangular stair tower projecting, accessing stone balconies (with metal handrails) supported on cast-iron columns. Eaves course.

12-pane timber sash and case windows to front and rear elevations. Vertically-boarded timber doors at 1st floor of rear elevation. Grey slate roof with continuous pitch over stair tower, cast-iron gutter with decorative urn hopper centring Kirk Street elevation, cast-iron gutters and downpipes to rear elevation. Roughcast multi-flue stacks with circular cans, margined at right and centre, built up in brick with concrete cope at right.
