Description
Circa 1880. 3-storey and attic, 2-bay tenement with shop at ground in irregular terrace. Classical details. Sandstone ashlar to front, harled to rear, cornice above ground, 1st and 2nd floor cill band course.
E (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: modern plate glass shopfront to right at ground, pend entrance to left. Arcaded tripartite windows in each bay at 1st floor, segmental architraved heads linked to string course, keystoned centre light. 2 windows at 2nd floor, bracketed cills and decorative cast-iron cill guards, raised margins, lugged surrounds and shallow strapwork decoration to jambs, 2 canted dormers above.
N ELEVATION: adjoining 160-164 (Even Nos) High Street.
S ELEVATION: adjoining 170 and 172 High Street.
W ELEVATION: pend entrance to right at ground with blocked door to left in pend, single window above. 168 High Street adjoining to left and partially obscuring boarded window at ground, window in re-entrant angle at 1st floor, window at 2nd floor above and off-set to left.
Timber sash and case windows, plate glass at front, 8-pane at rear. Grey slate pitched roof, stone skews and skewputts. Ashlar gablehead stacks.
INTERIOR: not seen 1997.
