Description

Earlier 19th century. 3-storey, 3-bay, classical tenement in irregular terrace with shop at ground. Sandstone ashlar to front, part-harl, part-render to side and rear, base course, entablature above ground floor, 2nd floor cill cornice, eaves cornice and blocking course, architraved margins. Pilastraded shopfront.

E (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: 4 bays framed by pilasters at ground, pend to left, door to right in pend, doorway with flanking windows to right, plate glass, low stall risers, symmetrical 1st and 2nd floors, centre windows blocked, corniced windows at 1st floor.

S ELEVATION: adjoining 44 High Street.

N ELEVATION: adjoining 36 High Street at ground and 1st, blank gable end above, section extending W to right.

W ELEVATION: gable end of house extending W.

Timber sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; corniced and rendered gablehead stack to N, brick stack rising from eaves to N of W section.

INTERIOR: not seen 1997.
