Description
29 High Street in Montrose is a tall, two-storey, three-bay corner house built in the mid-18th century. The building has a rectangular plan and is harled with plain margins on the gable end and a rendered shopfront.
On the south elevation, the door is offset to the right of the centre bay at ground level. The first floor features three symmetrical bays that are widely spaced, with a wall end to the right (east) that has an irregular recess created by a shallow east-facing corbel and a deep south-facing corbel at the first floor.
The west elevation has a two-bay gable end with windows on the first floor and a shopfront at ground level that includes a central door flanked by plate glass windows.
The east elevation is adjacent to 3-7 John Street.
The building features timber sash and case windows, plate glass, grey slates, coped skews, a rendered gablehead stack on the west side, and a broad brick stack on the east side.
The interior was not seen in 1997.
