Description
Wester Balruddery is a 2-storey house attributed to John Murray Robertson, built in the late 19th century. It has a rectangular plan and features snecked rubble with ashlar dressings. The roof is a plain red tile with a piended design, complemented by terracotta ridge tiles. Brick stacks with an oversailing cornice rise through the eaves from a shouldered snecked rubble base. The windows are sash and case, with some alterations; they have plate glass at the bottom and 4 panes at the top, and the house has deep eaves.
On the south elevation, there are 2-leaf multi-pane glazed doors at the center, a large canted window to the right with a roof extending over the door as a canopy, and an oculus at the center of the first floor. To the right, a tripartite window breaks through the eaves with a half-piended roof. To the left, there is a full-height 4-light projecting window with sidelights at the ground floor, which is set back at the first floor and features tile-hung sides, a projecting apron, and a piended roof.
The east elevation has a small single-storey projection at the center with an oculus, and a bipartite window on the first floor to the right that breaks through the eaves. The north and west elevations were not seen. The interior has not been observed.
