Description
Ashludie South Lodge, located on Victoria Street in Monifieth, was designed by James MacLaren in 1866. This single-storey building is L-shaped and constructed from random rubble with ashlar dressings and a slate roof. It features skew gables that have apex chimneys and shaped cap stones on the south side. The south gable bay includes a canted window, and there is a porch with a shaped gable situated in the re-entrant angle. The entrance is marked by four square-plan ashlar gatepiers topped with caps, accompanied by cast-iron railings. One of the gatepiers has a lamp standard, while two feature strapwork decoration.
