Description

Earlier 19th century. 3-storey and attic, 4-bay tenement (bays grouped 2-2) with shop at ground in irregular terrace. 2 adjoining buildings forming shallow L-plan. Sandstone ashlar to front, part-harl to rear. 1st and 2nd floor cill courses, eaves cornice and blocking course, architraved margins.

E (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: painted shopfront to centre at ground, shallow pilasters and panels, modern muilti-pane glazing. Doorway to upper storeys to right, rectangular 2-pane fanlight. Pend entrance to left. Regular fenestration at 1st and 2nd floors, raised margins at 1st. 2 canted dormers above.

N ELEVATION: adjoining 196-198 High Street to left. 2 bay wing to right in close 200 High Street, irregular fenestration.

S ELEVATION: adjoining 208-212 High Street to right. 2 bay wing to left in Parks Close, windows blocked at ground, central doorway, rectangular fanlight, regular fenestration above.

W ELEVATION: single bay to right with pend entrance at ground, window at 1st and 2nd floors, dormer above. 206 High Street adjoining at ground and 1st floors to left, slate hung gable end of W wing above.

Timber sash and case windows, 8-pane to front, 12-pane to rear. Grey slate pitched roofs, stone skews, skewputts. Brick and ashlar gable head stack to N.

INTERIOR: not seen 1997.
