Ouchterlony House, 182 High Street, Montrose

Ouchterlony House is an 18th-century, two-storey, shallow L-plan house located at 182 High Street in Montrose. The front features lined render with architraved margins at the ground level.

The east elevation is asymmetrical, showcasing a timber Doric columned portico with an entablature. The entrance door is panelled and offset to the right, with a small window centered above it on the first floor and another window to the left at ground level. The wall extends above the gate to the extreme left, adjoining 190 High Street. To the right, there is a single bay return of the L-plan, which includes windows at both the ground and first floors.

The south elevation consists of a gable end that abuts 190 High Street. The west elevation features a full-height bowed stair tower on the right and a bay to the left with a dormer above.

The windows are timber sash and case, and the roofs are pitched with grey slate, complemented by stone skews. There is a truncated gablehead stack on the south side.

The interior was not seen in 1997. The property is enclosed by rubble stone boundary walls that surround the garden to the rear (west).
