Description

The Aqueduct on the Gagie Estate was designed by engineer James Leslie in 1848. It features five stone arches that carry an enclosed duct over a stream, which is a tributary of the Murroes Burn. The structure is built with lightly stugged rubble masonry and has ashlar dressings, with a smooth inner curve (intrados) and bull-faced coping stones. The arches are segmental in shape, and there is an embankment to the south.
