Description
Kingennie House is a small Edwardian country house built around 1900 by Thomas M Cappon. It is a two-storey building with an attic, featuring a rectangular plan and various projections. The house is constructed from local stone, harled with polished dressings, and has a slate roof. It includes multi-pane sash and case windows throughout, although some have been replaced with uPVC. The tall stacks are mainly wallhead and have deep cornices.
On the southeast elevation, there are two large, flat-roofed, two-storey semi-circular bows that project from the gables, flanking an entrance tower connected by an advanced porch. The entrance features a tripartite doorpiece with a segmental lintel, and there is a cill course at both the ground and first floors. The bows contain three windows on both the ground and first floors, with bipartite windows in the gable above and in the tower. The tower has a moulded wallhead cornice and a pyramidal roof topped with an ornamental weathercock, flanked by corniced stacks. To the west, a lower wing is set back, featuring a tripartite window and a single window on the ground floor, along with a canted oriel and a single window on the first floor.
The north (rear) elevation is plain, with a tripartite stair window. Inside, the house boasts a panelled hall with a chimneypiece and a staircase that turns with landings, featuring turned balusters. The dining room contains an original classical style chimneypiece. Additionally, there is a full complement of 17 service bells located in the back hall.
