Description
Monifieth North Church, built between 1846 and 1847, is a rectangular-plan church constructed from coursed rubble masonry with polished dressings and a slate roof.
The west gable features a central projecting gabled porch, which includes a sculpted circular panel and the date "1846" inscribed, topped with a ball finial at the apex. There are doors on the north and south sides with chamfered margins. Flanking the porch are round-headed windows with lightly stugged dressings, margined and chamfered, and multi-pane rectangular glazing. At the gallery level, there is a narrow, keystoned aperture that is boarded up, and above it, a birdcage bellcote is corbelled at the apex over a coped skew gable. The east elevation has a similar gable end but features a stack at the apex and a small gabled addition.
The long north and south elevations each have three single windows that are detailed similarly to those on the west gable. The church is enclosed by walls on the north, south, and west sides, which include square gatepiers with caps at the north.
