Description
This is an 18th-century dovecot, set into the south end of an early 19th-century oval walled garden enclosure at Haddo. The dovecot is cylindrical and, as of 1989, was in poor condition. It is constructed from random rubble and boulders, with a harled exterior and two courses of slate as alighting ledges. A cornice runs along the top. A reset armorial panel is located between the second string course and the cornice, featuring a lion rampant with a sword, a coronet, and a thistle, all of which are heavily weathered. There is a flight opening above. The bell-cast roof has collapsed, and was originally slated. Inside, remains of wooden nesting boxes and a potence are visible.
