Inverurie, St James's Place And Upperboat Road, Inverurie Hospital, Nurses' Home

Inverurie Hospital's Nurses' Home, designed by Robert Leslie Rollo between 1936 and 1940, is a two-storey, rectangular-plan building that showcases a symmetrical International Modern style. The exterior features smooth rendered and painted concrete blockwork, with bays arranged in pairs to reflect the alternating room layout. The principal elevation faces south and has an advanced ground floor at the center, which culminates in wide, bowed, glazed flat-roofed bays and a low terrace wall. The entrance elevation, facing north, has a slightly advanced center and ends, with a central doorway flanked by two-storey vertical fins that are cut through by a cantilevered canopy.

Both the north and south elevations include a blocking course at the center, with overhanging eaves on the remaining bays. The building has a flat roof and metal-framed casement windows, primarily featuring 8-pane and 6-pane glazing.

The interior, observed in 2013, consists of former bedrooms that have been converted into offices, all accessed from a central corridor. The bowed bays include timber window seats, and there are two concrete and Terrazzo staircases flanking the center, featuring plaster wall balustrades with horizontal flat timber handrails.
