Description
St Cyrus Church, built by David Mitchell in 1853-54, is a Gothic-style church constructed from ashlar. The main body of the church is a tall three-bay rectangle featuring lancet windows and small square-paned glazing interlace at the top.
The church has a slated roof and diagonal buttresses with crenellated tops. At the center of the north gable, there is a square-plan tower topped with a spire, flanked by lancets and raking crenelation. The tower consists of four stages, with octagonal crenelated angle buttresses. The lowest stage features a pointed doorway, the second stage has tall lancets, the third stage displays black and gold clock faces, and the top stage includes twin belfry openings. The structure is finished with a crenelated parapet, an octagonal spire, and a weather vane.
