Description
Kirkton House, built in 1797, is a two-storey building with a three-window front, featuring a very small centre window on the first floor. The front is constructed of good coursers, while the rest of the building is harled. To the right, there is an advanced gabled wing with a shallow tripartite bay. The windows consist of two-light designs with a mix of 12 and 4-pane sashes. A porch and a back wing were added before 1850, with repairs carried out in 1859-60 by William Middleton and John Greig of Montrose. Extensive repairs and reconstruction were completed in 1871 by James Maclaren of Dundee. The roof is slated, and there are interesting ball-capped gatepiers in the garden.
