Description

St John's Church, located on High Street in New Pitsligo, was designed by George Edmund Street R.A. and built between 1870 and 1871. The church features early geometrical architecture, constructed from granite in narrow courses, with some details in freestone.

The building has a three-bay nave with transepts that are flush with the aisles at the easternmost bay, and a short aisleless area at the west. There is a southwest towerlet topped with a pyramid. The chancel is aisleless and has an apse, with an organ chamber on the south side, raised on a tall undercroft due to the sloping ground.

Inside, the church showcases quatrefoil piers, a kingpost roof in the nave, and a waggon roof in the chancel. It includes two stone seat sedilia and a stone pulpit. The chancel features stained glass by Clayton & Bell from 1898, and there is a bell from John Easton of Fraserburgh, dated 1725.
