Description

Craigour Bridge is a single, segmental-arched bridge built in 1833, designed by Aberdeen-based architect John Smith in 1826. It is one of three small bridges designed by Smith in the area, alongside North Bridge and South Bridge which cross the Learney Burn and were also constructed in 1826. The bridge spans the Beltie Burn and features curved approaches, with parapets that sweep down at the abutments. The structure is built with squared rubble and has a flat, coped parapet. John Smith carried out numerous commissions in north-east Scotland, including rebuilding part of Learney House following a fire in 1838.
