Description
The dovecot at Glassaugh dates from around 1600 and is a small beehive structure built in the typical four stages. It features harl pointed random rubble with tooled rubble dressings. The doorway is located on the east side of the dovecot, and there are pigeon entrances at the apex. Each course of the dovecot is defined by a stone slate rat course. Inside, there are original stone nesting boxes, which are fronted by a series of late 18th century brick boxes, totaling 184 boxes. This addition reduces the interior radius and space.
