Description
This is a circa 1850 mill, likely designed by A & W Reid of Elgin, situated at Eden Home Farm. The mill is an L-shaped structure built into a slope. It is single and two storeys high, constructed with harl-pointed rubble walls and granite ashlar dressings featuring chamfered openings. The south-facing elevation is two storeys, while the north-facing gable is single-storey and broader, incorporating a wide entrance at road level. The mill has small windows with 9-pane glazing, and features shaped granite apex finials and a slate roof. Architectural details include ashlar coped skews and bracketted skewputts.
The mill's interior has been gutted. A mill pond is located 100 metres to the east, and an underground lade conveyed water to the mill, however the water wheel itself is no longer present. The mill is listed as a building of group value within the wider mid-19th century farm complex at Eden Home Farm, and is grouped with its associated buildings.
