Description
15 Church Street in Portsoy is a mid to late 18th century terrace of two houses, featuring two storeys and a dormerless attic. The exterior is pebble dashed with contrasting painted ashlar margins and dressings. Originally, it comprised a two-bay house (number 17) and a three-bay house. There is a shop window and door inserted into the left (southeast) bay of number 17. The entrances to both number 17 and number 19 are framed by moulded, lugged, and corniced painted polished ashlar doorpieces, each adorned with a single patera in the lugs. Number 17 has a double leaf panelled door, while number 19 has a modern door. The first floor features five regularly spaced windows close to the wallhead, along with a single ground and first floor window in the north return gable, which has paired diminutive attic lights in both the north and south return gables. The windows are primarily timber sash and case with 4-pane glazing. The building has ridge and end stacks, flat skews with run-off skewputts, and a slate roof.
