Description
The Boat of Fechil, along with its outbuildings and boathouse, is an early 19th-century single-storey croft house with a traditional rectangular plan. It is constructed from harled rubble sandstone and features a symmetrical three-bay façade.
On the west elevation, which serves as the entrance, there is a central doorway with a boarded door and a two-light letterbox fanlight above it. There are single windows in the outer bays on both the left and right sides. The east elevation, or rear, has a small single window in the center and shows evidence of a former addition on the outer right side. Both the north and south elevations are blank gabled bays.
The house has 12-pane sash and case windows and is topped with a grey slate roof that is swept at the eaves. It features two coped gablehead stacks, two cast-iron skylights on the west side, block skewputts, and stone ridging.
The outbuildings, located immediately to the north of the croft house, are also single-storey structures made of slate-pointed sandstone rubble, with a grey slate roof and stone ridging, along with block skewputts.
To the north bank of the River Ythan, there is a gabled boathouse constructed from rubble sandstone.
