Steading, Manse, Fordoun Parish Church, Auchenblae

The Steading at Manse, Fordoun Parish Church in Auchenblae was built in 1844 by John and William Smith, incorporating an older manse. This two-storey building features dormerheads and is harled and whitewashed with margins. The front has an advanced gable to the left, which includes a shallow three-light rectangular bay and a two-light window above it, along with an attic slit. There is a porch in the re-entrant angle, with splayed angles and a four-centre arched doorpiece, an ashlar parapet, and a two-light window with a gablet dormerhead above. To the right, there is a three-light window with a matching two-light dormer above. The flank has two windows with similar dormerheads and a blind one-window gable. The rear has a stepped L-plan with a piended stair hall in the angle. The front chimneys have diagonal shafts that are corbelled to a square at the top, and the roofs are slated. The coped skews have ball and spike finials. The front and flank elevations feature small-paned mullion and transom crosses, while the rear windows are small-paned sashes. There is also a detached rubble-built and slated steading from the same period.
