Description

The Parsonage at Blair Atholl Distillery, located on Perth Road in Pitlochry, is a former manse built in the mid-19th century, with a later addition at the rear from the 20th century. This two-storey building features three bays and is constructed from squared and snecked rubble, accented with granite quoins and droved ashlar margins.

The principal elevation showcases a steeply-pitched gable with a small entrance tower in the central bay, which includes a pointed-arch doorway and a window on the left side. Above, there is a single window set within a moulded dividing course. To the right, a broader gable is slightly set back and features a slate-roofed canted tripartite window at ground level, with a bipartite window above. The left bay is recessed and has a wide-centre tripartite window at ground level, with a single window above that breaks the eaves into a dormerhead.

On the southwest elevation, there is a broad gable positioned right of centre, which has decorative timber braces supporting a slate-canopied porch. This porch leads to a panelled timber door with a four-part fanlight. To the right of the porch, there is a window, and two additional windows are located on the first floor. A slightly recessed bay to the left contains two windows at ground level, flanking a central dormer window that breaks the eaves above.

The northeast elevation is regularly fenestrated with two bays, featuring first-floor windows that also break the eaves into dormerheads. The northwest (rear) elevation has various elements due to alterations, including an advanced bay to the right with a boarded timber door and a plate glass fanlight on the left side, all under a catslide roof.

The windows throughout the building are timber sash and case double-glazed, with a mix of 4-pane and plate glass patterns, except for the northwest extension. The roof is covered with graded grey slates, and there are coped ashlar stacks with a full complement of polygonal cans. The building has overhanging eaves and decorative bargeboarding.

Inside, the Parsonage features decorative plasterwork cornicing, working shutters, picture rails, a timber dog-leg staircase, and black and white marble fireplaces.

Additionally, there is an ancillary building on the property, which is rectangular in plan, constructed from slated rubble, and includes two pedestrian doors and two garage doors.
