Description
Montcoffer Cottages are a pair of single-storey cottages with an attic, built in the earlier to mid-19th century. They are joined to form a U-plan and feature harled walls with red Turriff sandstone margins.
The south elevation is symmetrical and includes a later gabled porch at the center with bracketed eaves, a door that has a letterbox fanlight, and two narrow windows on either side. The outer bays are advanced and gabled, featuring windows at ground level and small round-arched attic windows.
The east elevation has three bays, with a door in the center and windows flanking it, along with two flat-roofed dormers in the attic.
The west elevation is two bays wide, with a window on the left at ground level and a single flat-roofed dormer in the attic. There is a flat-roofed addition to the north, with a rear gable. The cottages have sash and case windows that display a variety of glazing patterns. The roof features ashlar coped skews and margined stacks, with some decorative cans still retained.
